Isuzu NPS Dyno Tune: Unleash the Power

One of the most effective methods is through dyno tuning. At HD Tuning, we recently had the opportunity to perform a dyno tune on a 2021 Isuzu NPS 75-155.

First off with the dyno tuning process, we start our pre dyno inspection to ensure the vehicle is in good condition suitable for tuning. Secondly, we then ran the Isuzu NPS 75-155 on our dyno to get baseline figures. The initial figures were 120.8Hp and 332.7Nm of torque. These numbers are respectable, but there was certainly room for improvement.

We carried out two different dyno tunes on the Isuzu NPS 75-155, each designed to meet different performance goals. The first was a mid-range tune that would provide an improvement in power and torque, as well as fuel economy gains. The second was an all-out power tune that would push the Isuzu NPS 75-155 to the best power and torque possible while keeping within spec.

Powergate Personal Programmer

The Powergate personal programmer is a powerful tool that enables the customer to flash files onto the vehicle’s ECU via OBD. This allows us to customize the vehicle’s performance parameters and optimize them for maximum power and torque across multiple files stored on the device.

Flywheel Power/Driveline Losses - Mild Tune

Dyno Tune Results Mild

After the mid-range tune, the Isuzu NPS 75-155 produced impressive figures of 157.2Hp and 414.3Nm of torque. This is a significant improvement over the baseline figures, with an increase of 30% in power and 24.4% in torque. The mid-range tune is ideal for those who want to increase the performance of their vehicle for everyday driving.

The all-out power tune is for those who demand the most from their Isuzu NPS 75-155. After the all-out power tune, the Isuzu NPS 75-155 produced incredible figures of 216.8Hp and 574.6Nm of torque. This is a massive increase in power and torque, with gains of 79.1% and 72.6%, respectively. The all-out power tune is ideal for those who want to take their vehicle to the next level and experience the ultimate in performance.

Flywheel Power/Driveline Losses - Summary

It’s important to note that the figures we’ve mentioned so far are measured at the wheels, which is the power produced by the engine and transferred to the wheels. When the power is transmitted through the driveline, there will be some power loss due to friction and other factors. The amount of power loss depends on the type of vehicle and the condition of the driveline.

This is why we use our estimator to get an idea of power and torque at the flywheel. We use this information to compare with factory figures that are also measured at the flywheel.

In the case of the Isuzu NPS 75-155, the driveline losses were around 20%, which means that the power that reaches the wheels is approximately 80% of the flywheel power. This is a typical figure for a vehicle of this type and condition.
