At HD Tuning, We’re all about maximising performance, torque, and drivability, no matter what vehicle comes into our workshop.

Recently, we had the pleasure of working on another 2023 Isuzu NPS 45-155, powered by the 4HK1 engine and equipped with the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). This powerful workhorse came in for a full transformation, and we took it to the next level with a custom dyno tune and a PDI Heavy Duty Transmission Cooler installation.

Why the Pre-Dyno Health Check is Crucial

Before diving into the tuning process, we always conduct a thorough pre-dyno inspection. This step ensures that the vehicle is mechanically sound and ready to handle the increased performance. By detecting any underlying issues, we make sure that the Isuzu can safely handle the additional power and torque that we’re about to unlock.

Additionally, we fitted a PDI Heavy Duty Transmission Cooler, a critical upgrade that helps the transmission maintain optimal temperatures, particularly during heavy towing or long journeys. This cooler prevents overheating and ensures smoother gear changes, ultimately prolonging the lifespan of the transmission – a must for any vehicle regularly used for touring or heavy-duty work.

Custom Dyno Tune: The Results Speak for Themselves

Stock Dyno Performance

With the pre-dyno checks and PDI Transmission Cooler installed, we moved on to establishing the stock dyno figures. Here’s what we found before any tuning.

POWER: 109.2Hp at the wheels

TORQUE: 163.2Nm at the wheels

Interestingly, this Isuzu had already been tuned elsewhere. We ran a test on the previous tune, which gave us:

PREV TUNE POWER: 120.1Hp at the wheels

PREV TUNE TORQUE: 403.6Nm at the wheels

While the previous tune provided some gains, we knew we could achieve even more!

Isuzu NPS 45-155 Custom Dyno Tune results

After our custom dyno tune, the results were remarkable:

POWER: 163.2Hp at the wheels (a 49% increased from stock)

TORQUE: 446.4Nm at the wheels (a 54% increase from stock)

The difference was night and day. The Isuzu NPS 45-155 transformed into a more powerful and responsive vehicle, especially when used for towing and touring. The gains in power and torque mean better pulling power, smoother acceleration, and improved fuel efficiency.
